Acceptable Use Policy

Version 1.0 · Effective 3 October 2026 · Barota Ltd

1. Permitted uses

Personal use, business promotion within platform rules, community building, content creation, and commerce within platform rules.

2. Account conduct

One account per person, accurate information, no impersonation, and no sharing of credentials.

3. Content conduct

Prohibited content types match the Community Guidelines, plus the technical specifics below.

4. Technical conduct

No hacking, no scraping without permission, no reverse engineering, no DDoS attacks, no automated account creation, and no bot activity.

5. Data scraping

Strictly prohibited. Automated collection of user data is a breach of UK GDPR, the Computer Misuse Act 1990 and these Terms. Barota will pursue legal action for significant scraping violations.

6. Spam

Zero tolerance. Immediate permanent ban. No appeals.

7. Profanity filter

Barota's automatic language check runs on posts and comments, in English today; content in other languages is reviewed by a person when it is reported. Trying to get round the check counts the same as posting the content itself, under the steps in section 9. Serious attempts involving illegal content result in an immediate permanent ban and law enforcement referral.

8. API usage

Barota does not currently offer a public API. Unauthorised API access is prohibited.

9. Enforcement escalation

Warning, then a 24-hour posting restriction, then a 7-day suspension that ends by itself, then a suspension that stays until a person at Barota lifts it, with law enforcement referral where the law requires. Barota reserves the right to skip steps for serious violations.

10. Reporting violations

Email safety@barota.co or use the report option on the content or on the member's profile.
